Who are the men behind the site and how do they do it?

Don�t know about the rest of you users, but I�m a bit curious as to who these guys are? This site is so cool and very ingenious. Linking to external data bases I don�t think is �kids� play. OR is it????.. so come�on Hostile, IceMan.. tell us a bit about yourselves. Are you kids, just mild mannered geeks coding web pages all day and night eating pizza non stop.. OR.. anti terrorist software designers that work for the DOD and do this as a hobby? Why are you doing it? How are you doing it, does TV.com have a backdoor database that you get permission to use, or did you �just� figure out on your own how to tie into it? Lets hear some behind the scenes dirt�

Well, Iceman is a 74 year old dude from Iceland. He was bored with life and started then site. He is also almost blind and deaf which why he sometimes does not make sense. The page was really created by a guy named Weasel. I don�t have a picture of him but I do have a picture of his office at the following link:

No need to get access to their databases. A technique called 'scraping' is normally used where you just write a bit of code that extracts all the information from the web pages themselves. Pretty simple procedure. I hacked together something that does this in hardly anytime at all:

One question that keeps popping up in my mind is, how do you finance the site? I see no ads whatsoever (and I don't block ads). Is there a millionaire behind this? Or do you have a deal with Nielsen's or something? Smile
