It appears my account has been hacked and the password and email adres have been changed.
Since I can't use the 'forgot password' option because it won't recognize my email addy I registered this temp user.
Tried to re-register but then i get a message my username has already been taken.
Can anybody help me on this?

What would you consider proof? The IP used to login to the account the most?

I have forced a password reset, check all your email address.

Thanks for your help facedancer, but it appears the 'user' changed the email adres. That's also why I can't use the 'forgot password' option. |

As luck would have it I have a six month old copy of the database.
I have set the email to match the one in my local development database.
I am interested to know why your account was targeted?

Thanks for the help, really appreciate it.
I'm not sure why I am being targeted. My work email was also hacked by an nigerian IP and started sending spam...
Not sure what's going on. My username and passw must have been on a password list somewhere (altho my username here, and my email account at work at totally different usernames).

P.S. any clues in the email adres that the 'hacker' put in there? |

It was a yahoo address, looked quite normal. Most of the spamming accounts I delete have a .ru domain.
I use LastPass with two YubiKeys, so I'm safe if I loose one. So I can use unmemorable passwords and I do not need them written down.
