|
|
Hello everyone.
The update engine is now getting it's data from the www.tvmaze.com site.
Thanks to Jan/David for showing interest in community.
There are quite a few issues to iron out.
First of we have more than 18000 shows, but they currently only have 6200.
Hopefully this will change quickly.
I have proposed to give them a dump of all our tvrage data so they get a more complete database.
Any change made to a tvmaze show over at tvmaze.com, which has already been linked here on myepisodes will sync within 15 minutes.
Update at 2015-10-15 11:20:00 (UTC+2):
- TVMaze: 4840 shows linked.
- TheTVDB: 4542 shows linked.
- IceMan

I find thetvdb.com is very complete and up-to-date. It's what Kodi (XBMC) and many others use.
Not that I'm complaining. I love MyEpisodes and I'm very happy to see new episodes popping up! Thanks for your work towards that end.
Cheers |

We are crosslinking with thetvdb/tvmaze.
In the end we will be able to use either provider.
What we really need is an easy way to link shows with tvmaze/thetvdb.
We have 18000 shows, so it is kinda hard doing it alone :p
Maybe the userbase could help? |

What needs to be done specifically? I wouldn't mind spending some time working on ME. That's the least I can do. _________________ </Willem> |

Only thing we need is the ShowID from thetvdb put into our db next to our own ShowID.
So one would need to search for the show at thetvdb and then input the correct showid into a form here at myepisodes.com |

How often is the data updated? I submitted some changes to shows on TVMaze yesterday and they're still not here on My Episodes. |

For the moment i have to run the update manually.
Will run it now.
I have asked tvmaze to implement a change in the API to better facilitate the sync/propagation of data. |

Thank you! That solved some of my shows but leads to two new questions:
How do you add a new show that is not yet on My Episodes but _is_ on TVMaze?
How do you link/sync two shows by the same name? For example, The Great Australian Bake Off was already on My Episodes. Yesterday, it was added to and updated with Season 2 episodes on TVMaze, but the data is not propagated to My Episodes. |

Hi Talvi.
I am working on a user contribution system that will allow all users to link each show with the respective showid from tvmaze and thetvdb.
Actually it is ready for testing.
I just wanted to make som AJAX lookup of the shows possible too.
But i really need some sleep.
If you wanna test the system, send me a PM.
The ability to add any show to this site is also almost ready. |

In some way I'm still hoping TVRage will come back and there will be no need for this transformation.
Thanks IceMan. |

Anyone in here interested in testing my new user contribution system? |
